A few things I hold to.
Make it fast.
Speed is respect — for the visitor’s time and the machine’s. A fast site is the most honest kind of polish, and the foundation of every ranking.
Make it simple.
I’d rather make a hard thing feel obvious than make a simple thing look clever. The best software disappears into the work it does.
SEO is just being useful.
Rankings aren’t tricks. They’re what happens when a page is fast, well-structured, and genuinely the best answer to a real question.
Build it to last.
No bloat, no lock-in, no template you’ll outgrow. Something documented and maintainable that still works in five years.
